NEDA IX conducted its midyear assessment and planning activity on July 22-23, 2021 via teleconference. It also included sessions on understanding and management of work related stress and burnout during this time of the pandemic, and on basic development planning concepts for the NEDA IX new entrants.

Workshops were conducted to assess the performance of NEDA IX during the 1st semester of 2021. Performance measures were discussed.  The outputs of this exercise were the tentative performance commitment ratings of the office, the divisions and the individual staff. Work targets and major activities for the 2nd semester were also firmed up to ensure alignment with the priorities of the NEDA and RDC IX. The NEDA IX Work and Financial Plan for the remaining period of the year was updated accordingly.

The session on managing stress and burnout was facilitated by Ms. Babylin C. Bautista, a registered psychometrician and a guidance counselor from Cagayan State University. The Maslach Burnout Inventory tool was introduced to help the participants check themselves for burnout. Ms. Babista also shared some tips on how to manage burnout toward a healthier work-life balance lifestyle.

Basic concepts on regional development planning were shared by Mr. Arthur N. de Guzman, Supervising Economic Development Specialist of the Research and Development Division. Relevant mini games and activities in between the workshops were conducted to keep the participants energized and their creativity enhanced, and camaraderie among staff strengthened. (Jenny B.
