The Project Monitoring and Evaluation Division staff and ICT Coordinators, together with Regional Director Phlorita A. Ridao of NEDA IX, participated in the training on the use and care of the drone. The training was conducted in two sessions, October 6 and 13, 2020. Mr. Edilberto C. Obenza Jr. of Department of Environment and Natural Resources PENRO ZDS was the resource person who shared his ideas and expertise on the drone.

The training aims to capacitate the staff to properly operate the drone to take photos and record videos during field monitoring visits, communication advocacy program, and other activities that would require the use of remotely piloted aircraft. The DJI Mavic 2 Pro was the drone model used by the staff during the training sessions. It consists of 10 obstacle avoidance sensors on all sides and a max flight time of 31 minutes. It could also record 4K video at 30 frames per second. The Mavic is a series of teleoperated compact quadcopter drones for personal and commercial aerial photography and videography use, released by the Chinese technology company DJI (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mavic_(UAV)).
